Back in one of my blogs  I tolled you about Amun and now I can tell you more.Amun is the Sun-God of ancient Egypt.So Ra was not the only Sun-God. Amun`s name sounds like he has a lot of secrets because his name  means concealed one. Amun did not become  the precemintent, all-powerful deity until the eighteenth dynasty.He must of waited a long time to be powerful. About a 200 or so years Amun merged with Ra the northern Sun-God and the became Amun-Ra ( the KING OF GODS). Back then I don't know why but the worshiping of Amun became widespread, and the priest who served the deity were rich and powerful.Two of my favorite things.

Ra`s anger to the 5 children

One of the ancient Egyptian story's of Ra was that he became furious that 5 children of Nut, the Goddess of the Sky, were being born and could one day become the ruler of Egypt.   Ra did the best he ever could to stop them from being born.  But I guess he did not try hard enough  because the cunning edge of Thoth, the God of Wisdom out witted Ra.  Which is not to my surprise, since he is the God of Wisdom and all.  After a long time the 5 children grow up and Ra gets over his anger and welcomes them to his council chamber.  In my opinion that does not sound too pleasant. Dont people get locked up in chambers?

Ra is so amazing that he was one of the most important of all the deities in Egyptian religions.He was manly worshiped in the land or city of Heliopolis. It looks the word helicopter.Its in the center of the cult in the sun.Ra is always refereed as Ra of Heliopolis. That's likes calling me Garrett of Lees Summit. The cult of Ra began way back in the old dynasties of the old kingdom.Not much I know now this Ra is not the only sun god, he is the sun god of the north. That mines their not just one sun god their are more then just Ra.

Ra the sun-god had a head of a hawk and the body of a human person.Ra also had a sun disc head dress above  his head. That's a state of fashion, but if it works for him I guess it works. The under world thought he had a ram head and a human body. Not a hawk head. I would rather have a ram because it sounds cooler. When Ra was merged with Amun which you will hear about that in another glog. He had a human head and a human body.But the had a ginormous golden crown on top of his head.

Ra is Born!!!!

Ra is a very powerful god.Ra is the northern Sun-God.He welled him selve in to existence(which means he created him selve). That sounds really, really hard! He did that in the dark waters of Nun.He could of done anything in the world, but he decided to spit to twins out of his mouth instead. The boys name was Shu, god of the air( who saved all things) and the girls name is Tefnut, goddess of moisture.Ra sent them fair,fair away. I wonder if he did not like them! Later Shu and Tefnut got married and had two kids. Geb,god of the Earth and Nut, goddess of the sky.WWOOWW!!I hope they have a happy life.
